White noise for focus, study and sleep

White noise on this page is generated live. It opens at 60, a mask you can still talk over, and you can drag it down if the room is already quiet.

On a spare screen

White noise is the brightest of the three colours. It spreads energy evenly, so it covers a wider set of noises than brown, and it can feel sharper in a small room. This page starts it at 60, which is enough to mask a fridge or a hallway without taking over a conversation at the desk. Nothing else is on. Press Play and the tone is built in the browser while you listen. Open the noise card if you want pink, brown, or a recorded hum instead. The slider steps by 5, from off to full. Zero means silent. A shared link keeps the level and still waits for Play, including from a Home Screen icon. Fullscreen hides the browser bars. Dim the screen at night if the page is only there for the sound. This is a mask for a desk, not a medical device, and it does not promise sleep. Other mixes: brown noise, rain sounds, coffee shop sounds, and the ambient mixer.

FAQ

How is white noise different from brown?

White is brighter and covers more kinds of noise. Brown is deeper and softer in the highs. Both are generated here, not played from a file. This page opens on white at 60. The brown page opens that colour at 70. You can switch colours from the noise card without leaving.

Does white noise download a file?

No. The colour is generated in the browser after you press Play. A recorded layer, such as rain, does fetch a file the first time you turn it on. This page does not turn those on.
