On a spare screen
A fire is a small, close sound. It works on a spare screen when you want the room to feel occupied without a conversation. This page starts the fireplace at 65 and adds wind at 10, low enough to sit behind the crackle. Rain, café, ocean, and noise are off. Press Play before anything is fetched. Open the fire card or the wind card to pick another take. Keep the wind low if it pulls your attention. Stop after can end the sitting: 25, 50, or 90 minutes, then a ten second fade. The chip on the bar shows the time left. An iPad on a stand is the usual place. Set Auto-Lock to Never, because the wake lock is a request the system can still ignore. Dim the screen if the fire is only there to be heard. Other mixes: rain sounds, ocean waves, coffee shop sounds, and the ambient mixer.
FAQ
Does the fire page include rain?
Not until you add it. The opening mix is fire and a little wind. Rain is a separate layer at zero. The cabin scene on the mixer page is the one that puts fire, rain, and wind together. This page stays with the fire.
Will the crackle click when it loops?
The files are edited so the end folds into the start, and the player crossfades the copies instead of trusting a hard loop. If a take still bothers you, open the fire card and switch. The new one fades in over about a second.
