About PlainTools

Less on screen.
More done.

PlainTools is a shelf of small, fullscreen tools for the screen beside your work: a clock, a timer, a countdown to the thing that matters. Open one, leave it on, and get back to it.

Who it's for

For anyone with
one thing to finish.

Different desks, same wish: keep the goal in view and everything else out of it.

01 · At work

For the workday

Keep other time zones, the next meeting and the end of the day in sight, on the screen you're not typing on.

02 · Studying

For study blocks

Work in focused blocks with real breaks, and count down to the exam so the deadline stays honest.

03 · A calm desk

For a quieter screen

No feeds and no badges. One big clock on a spare screen, and nothing on it asking for your attention.

How it's madeFour rules · every tool

Plain.

on purpose

Most desk apps keep growing until they need your attention. These stay small: each tool does one job, then gets out of the way.

  1. 01

    One job each

A clock is a clock. A timer is a timer. Nothing else shares the screen.

Who makes it

One maker,
one shelf.

PlainTools is made and looked after by Kislay Vats. If a tool breaks, or there's one you wish existed, say hello.

A note from the maker
I made PlainTools because I wanted it myself: a timer while I practise DSA, a stopwatch when I see how long I can hold my breath, or just a flip clock ticking beside my screen. I figured that if I wanted this, there had to be at least one more person like me out there. This is for you.
