New year countdown on a fullscreen clock
A new year countdown fills the screen until the next 1 January at midnight. The year advances on its own, so a desk or a TV never needs a date typed in.

Midnight, then the next year
The target is 1 January at 00:00 in the time zone on the page, which starts as the zone of the device. On 31 December at 23:59 the blocks still point at the midnight a minute away. At 00:00 exactly, the finished message replaces them, confetti runs once, and the chime plays once if sound is unlocked. A second later the page is already counting toward the following January, so you can leave it up through the party and into the new day. Put it on the screen you are not using for the video call. The title includes the year you are counting toward. Copy link to this setup if you want to pin that date for someone in another room. If you only need the clock after midnight, the plain clock is the better page to leave on the stand.
FAQ
Which midnight does it use?
The time zone in settings. Local means the device that has the page open, so a laptop in London and an iPad in Mumbai do not share a midnight unless you set one zone and send the link. The line under the blocks names that zone. Change it before you copy the link if the party is somewhere else.
Does the year update without a refresh?
The preset looks up the next 1 January when the page loads. Leave it open across midnight and, once that instant passes, the next visit shows the following year. A copied link pins the date that was on screen, which is what you want when you send a setup to someone else.
